Romans 8:6
The eighth chapter of Romans is filled with such spiritual manna we could and should spend days feeding our spirit. However, the 6th verse is the word I want to feed on today. Particularly with these words, “To be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Spiritually minded is the mind under the influence of God’s mind. His wisdom, truth, and belief’s.
Paul’s teaching is focused on our flesh and the Spirit of God. The flesh is death, but to be filled, and led by the Spirit is life and peace. The Apostle Paul was no stranger to hardship. He had been arrested, shipwrecked, flogged, and hungry. Yet he talks about life and peace in the Spirit.
If we begin to break down and focus on Paul’s instruction, we must begin with the Spirit of God. The Spirit is life and peace. The Spirit is the source of both. Our careers, status, or fame may give us a sense of success, a calm, which may give us a sense of life and peace, but what happens when the storm comes? When our lives are shipwrecked by the storms, we have no control over.
Paul talks about life and peace that are storm proof. They are storm proof because life and peace come from God, Himself. The God who is either in the storm or above the storm. The Spirit is the pool of life, the living water, we drink from.
The Spirit is our source of peace in all things. It is only accessed through the Spirit of God. Paul teaches us the Spiritually minded have this life and peace. You and I must not allow our minds to be separated from the fact God is greater than anything we will face. And He is for us. The enemy tries to bring doubt and unbelief to try and to convince us God is not for us.
Romans 8:11 gives us peace, that “The Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead gives life to our mortal bodies. Paul is saying right now we have life and peace through the power of the Spirit.
Feed your mind with this truth. The Spirit of God is in us, for us, and imparts the very life and peace of God in us!
